What is Reiki ?
Reiki is the practice of transferring energy by positioning one’s hands on or over a person’s body. The aims are to help others and to help oneself through personal practice.
Reiki stragthens the body’s capacity to heal itself and helps relieve stress, which is an agrravating factor in some illnesses. Reiki is a Japanese word usually translated as « universal life energy. »
Reiki is not a therapy nor a medical act. Unless performed by a doctor, it can only be considered as complimetary treatment. Nor is it a religion; it can be practiced and received by people of any religion. One doesn’t have to believe in it to feel its positive effects.
What could be simpler than Reiki ?
Despite its simplicity, it is not always easy to find the best way to present it, to teach it, to transmit it. I wrote this book to offer teachers some concrete assistance. It is aimed at both newly initiated and experienced reiki master teachers but people just starting out in reiki or merely curious about it may also find it interesting as it presents ideas for efficient and meaningful practice.
This book aims at providing a simple, concrete introduction to reiki from a practical viewpoint. Synthetic explanations are presented alongside index cards which offer summaries, exercices, food for thought, all aimed at helping to light the way for the thoughtful practitioner.

The author
Jean-Pierre Chupin discovered reiki thanks to some friends on a trip in the desert. He was initiated into reiki in the lineage of Mikao Usui, as taught by Mrs Tanaka. When he became a Master teacher he set up a regular workshop in Paris where he gives initiations and trains future masters.
In a way, he is following in the footsteps of his father, a healer. He sees his spiritual journey as a search for harmonisation between body and mind. Jean-Pierre Chupin communicates here his belief that with regular practice, it is possible for everyone to find their own dynamic unity, remaining open to others, through love and serenity.
